Facing this situation, in order to ensure the safety for consumers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a Plan to control antibiotic residues in shrimp and prevent acts of putting impurities into shrimps and products. producing and trading impurities shrimp products.
The goal is to reduce by the end of 2017 a 50% reduction in the proportion of cultured shrimp samples found to have violated regulations on antibiotic chemicals compared to 2016; 50% reduction in the number of shrimp lots exported to markets warned by Vietnamese authorities and importing countries about antibiotic residues compared to 2016.
Regarding the prevention of impurities control in shrimp, by the end of 2017, 100% of shrimp farming, purchasing and processing establishments in 4 key provinces (Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang) signed orange Do not put impurities in shrimp before consumption, do not buy impurities. Promptly inspecting, irregular checking, handling violations of shrimp production and business establishments showing signs of impurity impurities in shrimps or producing and trading in impurities.
The plan also stated that by the end of 2018, basically ending the situation of using banned substances, abusing chemicals, antibiotics, veterinary drugs in shrimp production and trading.
In order for the plan to be effective, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests functional agencies to propagandize and instruct shrimp farmers not to use banned substances, antibiotic raw materials, and not to abuse drugs. veterinary, environmental treatment and improvement substances; organize to commit not to sell banned substances, antibiotic raw materials for aquaculture for establishments trading veterinary medicine.
In addition, it is required that shrimp preliminary processing, processing and exporting enterprises fully comply with the regulations of Vietnam and the import market in ensuring food safety and shrimp products; strictly abide by the regulations on control of chemical and antibiotic residues; proactively strictly control food safety hazards in the quality management program, especially antibiotic hazards according to Vietnam's regulations and import markets.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also assigned the Department of Animal Health to coordinate with units of the health sector and the industry and trade to strictly control antibiotics imported for medical and industrial use but prohibited for use in Producing and trading in aquatic products.
